The words of Jesus not only provide peace but also instill purpose in our lives. Just as Jesus was sent by the Father, He sends us into the world to share His love and message. Think about the implications of that. In the same way Jesus was sent. How was He sent? In great humility. As a servant. To suffer. To hang out with, serve, reach, and associate with the poor, the outcast, the marginalized, the mistreated, the oppressed—the worst of the worst of sinners. That’s quite a challenge to hear and receive. It’s daunting. That’s why we must also remember—Jesus was sent with power and authority, filled with the Holy Spirit to bring a message of hope, life, forgiveness, and salvation. This mission is both a privilege and a responsibility, inviting us to live with intentionality and compassion. Devotional:
As we conclude this week’s devotionals, remember that a day is only ordinary when we fail to embrace its potential power. By expecting the unexplainable, welcoming discomfort, and continuing in faith despite opposition, we unlock the divine power present in each day. Let us live with the awareness that God’s presence can transform any moment into one that shapes our lives forever.

Bible Verse:
“Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!”  ²⁵And immediately, as everyone watched, the man jumped up, picked up his mat, and went home praising God. ²⁶Everyone was gripped with great wonder and awe, and they praised God, exclaiming, “We have seen amazing things today!” — Luke 5:24b-26”

How can you position yourself to experience the power of God in your daily life?

Devotional:
Continuing in faith when others are upset requires resilience and confidence in God’s purpose. The actions of the paralyzed man’s friends were disruptive, yet they pressed on because they knew the importance of bringing their friend to Jesus. In our journeys, others may not always understand or support our faith-driven actions. Stand firm in your convictions, knowing that obedience to God is paramount, even amidst criticism.

“But the Pharisees and teachers of religious law said to themselves, ‘Who does he think he is? That’s blasphemy! Only God can forgive sins!'” — Luke 5:21

Sermon Quote:
“Not everyone will cheer you on when you step out in faith. But once you’ve experienced the power of one day—you won’t want to go back.”

Reflection Question:
Is there someone in my life I worry about being upset with my for seeking God?

Prayer:
Lord, give me the courage to continue seeking You, even when other people are upset. Strengthen me to follow Your path despite opposition. Help me to prioritize Your will above the opinions of others. May my actions glorify You and inspire others to seek Your presence. Amen.

Devotional:
Being willing to get uncomfortable is an essential step in experiencing the power of one day. The friends of the paralyzed man did not let discomfort or obstacles deter them from reaching Jesus. Similarly, we must step out of our comfort zones, accepting that growth and divine intervention often come through challenging circumstances. Embrace the discomfort, for it is often the precursor to God’s transformative work in our lives.

“So they went up to the roof and took off some tiles. Then they lowered the sick man on his mat down into the crowd, right in front of Jesus.” — Luke 5:19b

“Even if Jesus doesn’t do what I hope He’ll do—I still have to be willing to get uncomfortable in order for Him to do what He needs to do in me.”

Where is that place I struggle the most to get uncomfortable for God?

Expecting the unexplainable means living with the belief that God can do the impossible in our lives. In Luke 5:17-26, the four friends of the paralyzed man exemplify this expectation. They went to great lengths to bring their friend to Jesus, anticipating a miracle. By expecting the unexplainable, we invite God to work in unexpected ways. This mindset not only elevates our faith but also positions us to witness God's glory in action.

“Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the man, ‘Young man, your sins are forgiven.’” — Luke 5:20

“All I do know is this: they were expecting the unexplainable.”
