I Don’t Care What People Think - Day 2 of 5

Day 2: The Simplicity of Pleasing God

Five-day devotional based on the message, "I Don't Care What People Think" by Discipleship Pastor Ryan Akers on June 8, 2025. Click here to watch the video.

Devotional
In our journey to break free from the need for the approval of people, we must remember it is as simple as the advice Pastor Ryan gave his daughter when she asked him how she could run faster. He told her, “If you want to run faster, then you have to move your legs at a quicker pace.”  Equally as simple, we must focus on pleasing God instead of pleasing people. We must make deliberate choices to align our lives with God's desires. As Paul reminds us in Galatians, our goal should be to win God's approval, not that of people. By living for an audience of one, we find fulfillment and purpose, free from the exhausting pursuit of trying to please everyone else.

Bible Verse
"Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant." — Galatians 1:10

Reflection Question
In what ways can you adjust your daily actions to prioritize pleasing God over seeking human approval?

Sermon Quote
"We cannot simultaneously live for the applause of a crowd and live for an audience of one."

Prayer
Lord, grant me the wisdom to focus on pleasing You above all else. Help me to find joy and satisfaction in living for Your approval. Amen.
