Fasting For The Poor

Why should we fast? It's a difficult thing to rationalize for those of us who rarely go without the things we need. Spiritually, there is a certain communion with God that is found in fasting as we remove the things from our lives that distract us from Him. Not to mention the benefits to our prayer life. In this message, Pastor Jeff Maness teaches from Isaiah 58:3-12 about the true fast and explains how fasting can help us to stand with the poor. In our main scripture for this week, God reveals His heart for the poor while calling His people not to fast for the sake of fasting while ignoring those in need, but to take care of them instead.
