We will never be good missionaries around the world until we are great missionaries around the corner. Here at The Harbor, we follow a model of outreach that can be seen in the words of Jesus from Acts 1:8 (above). While Jesus never says there is an order of priority or intended process, many, including ourselves, believe there is.  
 
We desire to show and share the love of Jesus first in our Jerusalem (Bay Area of Houston), then to our Judea (Texas and surrounding region), then to our Samaria (USA), and then to the ends of the earth. In seeking the Lord to open doors of partnership, serving, and sharing in these areas, we focus on this framework for our outreach strategy.

On this page, you'll see a list of local, regional, national, and global partners, as well as some of the events we lead at The Harbor, which are helping us live out our vision of changing the world one life at a time. The Harbor and many of the people of The Harbor partner with these organizations through giving time, physical gifts and abilities, and financial resources. Our annual Compassion Offering, received at the end of each year, funds all of our Outreach efforts in the coming year. In 2024, we exceeded our goal of $228,250 and received $259,956. Outreach Weekend!

Please join us on March 29, 2025, 9:00 AM - noon, for a church-wide community serve! Together we will flood our area with the love of Jesus by being His hands and feet in service to others. Click the button below to see the list of various opportunities to serve and to sign up. Read the list carefully to see whether each serve is right for you, your family, or your small group. We will meet at the location and time listed on the sign-up, ready to begin serving.  Please wear a Harbor shirt if you have one!

Blood Drive

As part of our Outreach Weekend, we are hosting a Blood Drive on Sunday, March 30, from 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will be taking your precious donations in a comfortable coach right out in our parking lot. If you have given blood in the past, THANK YOU! You are a true hero! If you'd like to give this time, please sign up for a time slot that works best for you by clicking the button. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. Your donation can help up to three people, and you’ll receive a FREE ticket to Big Rivers Waterpark & Adventures, a free A1C test, and a free tumbler!

Food Drive

On that same day, we are having a Food Drive to help fight hunger in our area. The Harbor Pantry supports several local shelters and food pantries. Our distribution currently goes to the Alvin Food Pantry, Grace Episcopal Church, and Faith Community Church which assists the Archangels ministry to give food to the homeless.  We also contribute to local blessing boxes. Help us feed our community on Sunday, March 30. You can drop your items at the gray pantry or leave them behind your car that Sunday morning, and we will pick them up during service. Here is a list of the items we especially need.
  • Rice
  • Soup
  • Pasta
  • Pasta sauce
  • Jelly or jam
  • Dried beans
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned veggies
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Canned chicken and/or tuna
  • Pop-top meals (ravioli, Spaghetti-o’s, etc)
  • Paper goods (toilet paper and paper towels)

Provides physical and emotional support in a safe and loving home for children awaiting placement

Showing the love of Jesus to people while helping  them with their laundry

Meals on Wheels
Delivering meals and the love of Jesus to local seniors so that no one is left hungry or isolated

The Sanctuary Foster Care Services
Exists to achieve permanent sanctuary and healing homes for children and families from hard places
