The Forgotten Weapon - Day 4 of 5

Day 4: The Power of Lamenting Prayer

Five-day devotional based on the message, "The Forgotten Weapon" by Senior Pastor Jeff Maness on April 13, 2025. Click here to watch the video.

Devotional
Lamenting prayer allows us to bring our raw and honest emotions before God. It is an invitation to express our pain and struggles, starting from a place of vulnerability. In these moments, we come as we are, without pretense, trusting that God meets us there. Lamenting does not exclude praise; rather, it journeys through our suffering towards trust and hope in God’s faithfulness. By embracing lament, we experience a profound connection with God, who sees and hears our cries.

Bible Verse
"O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way?" — Psalm 13:1 (NLT)

Reflection Question
What pain or struggle can you bring to God in a lamenting prayer today?

Sermon Quote
"A lamenting prayer will eventually get to praise, but it starts with my pain and my problems. Telling God how I feel!" —Jeff Maness

Prayer
O Lord, in my moments of struggle, help me to bring my pain before You openly. May my lament lead me to trust in Your unfailing love and goodness. Amen.
