Day 3: The Power of Unity
Five-day devotional based on the message by Pastor Jeff Maness on February 9, 2025. Watch/listen to the full message by clicking here.
Devotional
Unity in marriage goes far beyond simply living together or sharing a last name. It's about two people becoming truly one - in purpose, in spirit, and in life direction. This unity requires intentional effort and often means setting aside our own preferences for the good of the relationship. When God speaks of two becoming one flesh, He's describing a profound spiritual and emotional oneness that reflects His relationship with the church. This kind of unity doesn't happen automatically - it's cultivated through daily choices to serve, love, and honor one another.
Bible Verse
"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church." - Ephesians 5:31-32
Reflection Question
In what ways can you actively contribute to building unity in your relationships today?
Quote
Cultivating oneness has nothing to do with chemistry and everything to do with commitment in a marriage.
Prayer
Dear God, teach me to pursue true unity in my relationships. Help me set aside selfishness and embrace Your vision of oneness. Amen.
