Our modern world often equates worth with possessions, but Jesus calls us to a different standard: to die to materialism and to live with an open-handed approach to all we own. This means recognizing that everything we have is a gift from God, and we are merely stewards of His blessings. Our true treasures are found not in earthly goods but in the eternal riches we receive through a relationship with Christ.

Luke 14:33 — “So you cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own.”

What is one possession or comfort you hold too tightly, and how can you practice open-handedness with it today?

Prayer
Lord, help me to hold loosely to the things of this world. Remind me that all I have is a gift from You, and teach me to steward these blessings wisely. May I find my worth and joy not in possessions but in You alone. Amen.
